Looking for a snack that actually fuels you — not just fills you? These matcha energy balls are one of my go-to functional foods. They’re gluten-free, packed with plant-based protein, fiber, omega-3s, and antioxidants to support energy, hormone balance, and focus — without the sugar crash.

Made with real ingredients like quinoa flakes, chia seeds, hemp, almond butter, and matcha, they’re perfect for that mid-afternoon slump when your brain’s foggy and the snacks are calling.

Simple. Nourishing. And yes — even hormone-friendly.

INGREDIENTS

  • ½ cup (50g) Quinoa flakes

  • 1T Matcha – sifted

  • 2T (22g) Chia seeds

  • 2T (20g) Hemp seeds

  • ¼ cup (60g) Almond butter

  • 2T (50g) Maple Syrup

  • 1/2t Pure vanilla extract

  • Pinch of Sea salt

  • Coatings

  • 100g Dark Chocolate (80% min) – Melted

  • 2T White Sesame Seeds – toasted

METHOD

  1. Toast sesame seeds in oven at 160 degrees for 13 minutes. Set aside to cool.

  2. Combine matcha ball ingredients in a bowl and stir till combined.

  3. Roll into balls (around half size of golf ball)

  4. Place in fridge to set.

  5. While balls are setting, melt chocolate over double boiler.

  6. Take the balls out after 30minutes.  Dip the balls halfway into the chocolate and use a spoon to smooth away the chocolate.  Repeat the process and place the balls on a plate or cooling rack with the chocolate facing upwards.

  7. Sprinkle the toasted sesame seeds over the balls.  Leave the chocolate to set, then transfer to an air-tight container and store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks (or freeze for up to 2 months).
