"I thought I just needed to lose a couple of kilos. What I really needed was to understand what my body needed."
Kylie's Story
Kylie's Story
When Kylie first reached out, she thought her biggest challenge was her weight.
She'd gained a couple of kilos that wouldn't budge. In her 20s and 30s, losing that weight would have been easy, but now nothing seemed to be working.
At the same time, life was incredibly busy.
She was juggling three children, starting a new job and carrying the demands that so many women in their 40s know all too well.
Although she thought she felt physically fine, she'd been living at such a fast pace for so long that she'd stopped noticing how much her body had been carrying.
"I'd been on this hamster wheel for so long that I didn't really know anything different."
As we worked together, Kylie began to understand there was much more influencing how she felt than simply the number on the scales.
Rather than focusing only on weight, we looked at the bigger picture.
Her nutrition.
Her stress.
Her movement.
Her recovery.
And what her body needed at this stage of life.
One of the biggest changes came when Kylie realised she was exercising in a way that no longer suited her body.
Running had always been something she enjoyed, but it had become harder and harder. She found herself forcing every run because she thought that was what she needed to do.
Instead, she discovered her body was asking for something different.
She started strength training, walked more often and gave herself permission to move in ways that felt supportive rather than exhausting.
Another important shift was how she fuelled herself.
She realised she was exercising early in the morning on an empty stomach and relying on several coffees before most people had even started their day.
Small, sustainable changes to her nutrition and daily routine made a much bigger difference than she expected.
Today, Kylie drinks mostly decaf, nourishes herself differently and no longer feels like she has to push through every day.
Perhaps the biggest transformation wasn't the weight she originally came for.
It was how she feels.
She has more energy.
She enjoys movement again.
She understands what her body needs now.
And instead of working against her body, she's learned how to work with it.

Kylie's Advice
"If you're wondering, 'Is this perimenopause? Is this just ageing? Is this just where I'm at?' I'd encourage you to have the conversation. It doesn't have to stay the way it is. You really can learn to work with your body instead of against it."
